About
Jennifer Walsh is a three-time founder with two successful exits and 20+ years of experience building consumer technology companies. Now operating as an executive coach and strategic advisor through Walsh Advisory, she works with 8-10 founders at a time on the operational challenges of scaling from seed to Series B.
Jennifer's entrepreneurial journey includes founding StyleBox (subscription fashion, acquired by Nordstrom for $120M), HomeChef (meal kits, merged with Kroger's acquisition of Home Chef), and her current stealth advisory-tech project. Each company reached over $50M ARR before exit.
Her advisory focus centers on: founder psychology and leadership development, go-to-market strategy for consumer products, building and scaling executive teams, and navigating the fundraising process. She's helped portfolio founders raise over $300M in aggregate funding and typically works with 2-3 companies intensively at any time.
Jennifer is known for her direct, no-BS coaching style. She conducts weekly 1:1 sessions with founders, quarterly strategic planning offsites with leadership teams, and provides on-call crisis support during make-or-break moments. She does not take board seats, preferring to maintain a pure advisory relationship.
Her typical engagement includes: 6-month advisory retainers, equity-only compensation (0.25-0.5%), and monthly office hours with founding teams. She's particularly effective with first-time founders navigating the emotional rollercoaster of startup building and consumer brand founders struggling with CAC/LTV optimization.
Jennifer holds a BA from Yale and an MBA from Kellogg. Based in Los Angeles, she works with founders globally via a combination of virtual and in-person sessions. She contributes regularly to First Round Review.
